I’m Mark, the watchmaker behind Whiteley Watch Repairs.

I am an independent watchmaker specialising in the servicing and repair of mechanical and vintage watches.

​

My route into watchmaking came from a background in high-end carpentry and bespoke furniture, where precision, patience and attention to detail were fundamental to the work. I have brought the same approach to watchmaking, developing my skills through practical bench work and continued technical training.

Why mechanical watches?

​

Mechanical watches are miniature machines, and it is the combination of precision engineering, craftsmanship and history that makes them so fascinating to me.

​

I particularly enjoy working on vintage Japanese and Swiss movements, where understanding the movement and carefully assessing the condition of each component is essential.

My approach

​

I believe good watchmaking is about more than simply getting a watch running again.

​

Each movement is assessed individually, serviced using appropriate specialist lubricants and carefully regulated and tested before it leaves the workshop.

Where possible, I aim to preserve original components rather than replacing parts unnecessarily.
